STRESS RELIEF
Our lives are filled with many stressors - some apparent and some hidden - that can lead to major dental issues. In dentistry, our stressors can reflected in our dental anxiety regarding treatment, clenching and grinding, and even in sleep apnea episodes. Here's how we can help you find stress relief.
General Sedation, IV, Oral, Nitrous (Laughing Gas)
SEDATION
Sedation is a great option for patients with high dental anxiety or patients with a long treatment appointment. At Evergreen Dental in Palmer, we offer options that best suit your level of need and comfort. Nitrous, also known as laughing gas, is a great way to cut down on the anxiety and still be able to drive yourself back from your appointment. IV and oral sedation provide conscious sedation wherein the patient can sleep through the treatment and still respond to questions. Typically, patients pleasantly have no recollection of their experience. General sedation is provided by a dental anesthesiologist while your treatment is conducted at our practice. These options do require closely-monitored patient care by a family member or friend before and after treatment due to the effect of the sedation drugs.
Occlusal Guard, NTI
NIGHT GUARD
Have you ever woken up in the morning with sore muscles in your jaw or your teeth are super tender? This can be caused by clenching or grinding your teeth during the night. These habits can also occur during the day dependent on stress levels due to work, family, or life in general. A custom-made occlusal guard, also known as a night guard, can relieve the tension in your jaw and teeth caused by these habits. The custom fit ensures the device stays in place throughout the night. These devices are also cleaned and polished at your annual check-ups to remove plaque and calculus build-up.
Custom Made Oral Appliance
SLEEP APNEA DEVICE
Sleep Apnea is becoming more prevalent in our society due to various reasons including proper diagnosing. CPAP therapy is best option to treat sleep apnea, but not everyone can tolerate it. In partnership with your sleep doctor, we can fabricate a custom-fit oral appliance that helps keep your airway open and reduces the apnea events. This treatment can be billed to your medical insurance upon request.
Partnerships with Physical Therapists
TMJ THERAPY
Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder is a very painful condition which greatly affects the patient's quality of life. Appliances such as an occlusal guard or an NTI can be helpful in controlling or resolving this condition. When these devices do not work, we partner with some of Alaska's best physical therapists in the Mat-Su Valley and Anchorage. TMJ Disorder is not a regular part of life and should addressed as soon as an issue is detected.
